Senior Spotlight on Shelby

ShelbyThe spotlight is shining on Shelby Lynn, also known as Red. Shelby plans on attending college after graduation. Her top choice would be to attend Colorado State University for their 4-year wildlife conservation program. In 10 years, Shelby plans to be living in a different state with a degree in wildlife conservation, working in a national park, hopefully, happy and healthy, with a loving family of her own.

Red has been going to SCC since the 7th grade. Shelby’s class schedule includes: Art 1, Careers, Geometry, Cadet, English 4, Government, and Anatomy & Physiology. Shelby’s favorite class is Art 1 because she can express herself in her own way through every piece of artwork she makes. However, any class with Mrs. Crites is a pleasure for her. Red is a member of History club, Student Council, Art club, FBLA, and is on the softball team.

Shelby's favorite teacher is Mr. Mize, because he has been there for her since Junior High no matter her circumstances. He has helped her when she was down and showed how proud he was when she was up. Shelby went on to say, “Mr. Mize is the bestest in the westest." Shelby’s role model is Mrs. Crites, this is because she has a beautiful energy that she wishes all people had. Mrs. Crites does whatever she loves to do and expresses herself through everything that she does. Red's advice to underclassmen is “Just breathe; if it’s not going to matter in 5 years then it's not worth stressing over. Enjoy every day because it will be gone before you know it!” Red's favorite quote is “I never have to do today ever again, tomorrow will bring something new.”
