Bayer logoThe Scott County Central FBLA would like to thank Bayer for the grant awarded through the Southeast Missouri Food Bank. This grant from Bayer paid for two ABC School Food Pantries that were held at Scott County Central School. The grant also paid for 12 students to be enrolled in the Backpacks for Fridays program that is offered through the Southeast Missouri Food Bank.

The first pantry was held on July 22, 2019 in the gymnasium at Scott County Central Schools. Many teachers, staff members, former students, parents, and community members volunteered to work at the first ever mobile pantry at SCC. The pantry was a huge success and helped about 80 families in total.

The second pantry was held in conjunction with Open House at SCC. Students, parents, alumni, and staff volunteered to work at this second pantry. This pantry was also quite successful and helped around 100 families total.

The grant through Bayer is allowing the Backpacks for Fridays program to be initiated at SCC this year for the first time. The backpack program will give a child a backpack every Friday throughout the school year (36 weeks total). These backpacks include items for the entire family to use. The first drop off for Backpack items happened on August 27, and the first Backpack delivery for students will be on September 6.

The SCC FBLA would like to give our thanks to Bayer for allowing us this opportunity to help our students, and also thank all of those who volunteered to help serve the families during our pantries.
