SCC FBLA Hosts Mobile Food Pantries

SCC FBLA Hosts Mobile Food Pantries
SCC FBLA Member KeRonScott County Central FBLA members have been grateful to have received enough donations to host seven mobile food pantries throughout the 2019-2020 school year.

Thanks to a grant from Bayer, two mobile pantries were held prior to the start of the school year. The first was held in July, and another held in August. After hosting those mobile pantries, students and staff saw the great need for more to be held for our community. The SCC FBLA students began preparing letters to send out and hand out to community and business members to ask for donations to go toward hosting another pantry. Originally, SCC FBLA members were hoping to be able to host two additional mobile pantries, one for November prior to Thanksgiving, and one for December prior to Christmas. Thanks to generous donors, they were able to exceed that expectation.

Due to gracious donors: SCC PTO, Green Light Lawn Service, Southeast Missouri Food Bank, SCC Student Council, and the SCC Healthy & Active Committee, the SCC FBLA has been able to host mobile pantries in November, December, January, and February. Currently, another mobile pantry is being planned for some time in April, most likely the week prior to Easter.

SCC FBLA is grateful to everyone who has donated money to help pay for the mobile pantries, and to everyone who has donated their time to help hand out the food.

Mrs. Glasener, FBLA Adviser stated, "I am so grateful we have been able to help out so many community members this year. I hope we are able to do the same next year. Nothing is more rewarding than hearing the "thank you's" from those who attend the mobile pantries. This has been an excellent experience for everyone involved: teachers, students, FBLA members, and community members. I am so thankful to have been a part of this."
