Middle Level FBLA Members at State Leadership ConferenceOn Friday, March 15, seven of our 5-8 grade students attended the Middle Level FBLA State Leadership Conference in Columbia, MO. This is our first year to have a Middle Level FBLA and we got our charter started late in the year, but these kids put their all into what they did. They had no study materials available for any testing they did, but they excelled!

I want to point out that there were over 350 students attending this conference, and that the only other school with a Middle Level FBLA in Southeast Missouri is Puxico. We were up against a lot of big schools.

Asher ran for state office and he will be the 2019-2020 Missouri Middle Level FBLA State Vice President of Membership.

At State, the top 10 students in each event receive a medal and are recognized on stage, with the top one in certain events advancing to Nationals.

Asher entered 3 events: Business Math & Financial Literacy, Introduction to Computer Science & Coding, and Critical Thinking. He placed 6th in Critical Thinking and was recognized on stage.
Grace entered 3 events: Job Interview, Proofreading & Editing, and Career Exploration. She placed 11th in Job Interview.
Maddie entered 2 events: Business Etiquette and Keyboarding Applications I. She placed 11th in Keyboarding Applications.
Shelby entered 2 events: Proofreading & Editing and Digital Citizenship. She placed 16th out of 56 entries.
Ellie, Stevey, and Skylar each entered Introduction to Computer Science & Coding. Ellie was our highest scoring competitor in that event. She finished in 17th place.
Katie competed in one event but did not attend the conference. She completed the Business Concepts test.

I am super proud of these kids. They were such a joy to spend time with. Some had to compete in events while we were in Columbia, and others had completed their testing prior. They all listened to some great speakers and got to do some fun leadership activities. These kids did an awesome job representing our school! Most of those tests had over 50 competitors in them and some had over 70 competitors.

What a way to represent SCC! Congratulations to all who participated.
