Senior Spotlight on Jodi

JodiSmart. Funny. Kind. These are words that describe Jodi’s personality. Jodi was given the gift to be able to express her personality from the day she was born. Her parents are Bobby and Tina Powers. She has attended SCC for 13 years while also being able to say this is where she will be graduating from in May 2019. Jodi’s classes include Early Childhood (Vo-Tech class), Cadet for Pre-K, English 4, Cadet for third grade, and Chemistry. The class she excels in the most is her class at Vo-Tech and cadet classes because she gets to be around kids. She also participates in Beta Club and National Honor Society. In her free time, you can find her watching Netflix, sleeping, hanging out with church friends, or her family.

Jodi doesn’t only love to be with kids, but she does have a role model and a favorite teacher. Her family inspired her to never give up, knowing that she can believe that she can do anything she sets her mind to and always made her see that she could also be the best. There is one teacher that made an impact on her outlook of school: Mr. Mize, he helped her increase her love for science, he helped and encouraged her to become a better writer, and he is also the reason she got addicted to X-Men movies. Even though she has a role model she also has a few words of advice for the underclassmen: “Never let bullying drag you down, just stand up tall and walk away because you have so much ahead of you, and you don’t want to ruin that all because you decided to fight back.” Let these words sink in, they will help you in the long run.

After school, Jodi plans to find a job that will help her later down the road, because she does not currently have one. In ten years, she sees herself working with children or just working in general. Her favorite quote is, “Why fit in when you were born to stand out.” ~ Dr. Seuss
