SCC FBLA members at Districts. The SCC FBLA group is small, but they made their presence known at the District 15 Leadership Conference. On Monday, February 4, SCC FBLA members attended the District 15 Leadership Conference at Southeast Missouri State University. FBLA members competed against the other schools in District 15. Many members had completed testing or completed other work prior to the date of the conference. Some members had a performance portion they had to complete in front of judges the day of the conference.

This year, SCC had five members qualify for the State Leadership Conference (SLC). Lamar qualified for SLC by placing first in Computer Applications and fourth in Personal Finance. Allison placed first in Health Care Administration and first in Social Media Campaign, which will advance her to SLC in two events. The Social Media Campaign was a team event, and her team partner, Alexis, also qualified for SLC. Sarrah advanced to SLC by placing first in Help Desk and Alexis advanced by placing first in Public Speaking.

Several students placed in the top 5 of their event, with only the top 1 advancing to SLC. Keron placed 2nd in Impromptu Speaking, Shelby placed third in Client Service, Allison placed third in Future Business Leader, and Sarrah placed fourth in Job Interview.

Also doing well, but not receiving a medal, were Keron with a 10th in Advertising and a 12th in Intro to Business Communications, Alexis with an 8th in Business Calculations, Rita with a 9th in Business Calculations, Alexis with a 19th in Business Communications, Rita with a 14th in Business Communications, Lamar with an 11th in Healthcare Administration, and Shelby with a 10th in Personal Finance.

Allison finished off her year as District 15 President and Keron was sworn in as the District 15 Vice President of Membership for the 2019-2020 school year. For her year of service, Allison received a $100 scholarship to help her with fees to attend the State Leadership Conference this year.

The State Leadership Conference will be held April 14-16 in Springfield, Missouri. The FBLA group is currently working to raise funds to help cover the expenses for the registration fees and hotel rooms. They will be holding a 50/50 drawing at the Homecoming Game on February 8 and the Senior Night games on February 14. They will begin sales of Outer Banks Gourmet Popcorn on February 14, and plan to sell Krispy Kreme donuts in March. If you would like to donate to the cause, please speak to Mrs. Glasener at Scott County Central Schools.
